The Easy Gift Bag Tutorial

Hi Crafters!  Welcome to the first tutorial on my new craft project blog!

Before we get started with this tutorial, I would like to run down a basic supply list every crafter should have:
  • Paper Trimmer (w/ Scoring Blade is nice, but optional)
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive (dry and liquid)
  • Hole Punch  - Cropodile is ideal but not necessary

Nice to haves:
  • Score tool - I prefer the Martha Stewart Scoreboard, but SU! makes one, Making Memories has come out with a score tool attached to a trimmer, and there is also the original Score Pal.
  • Bind It All - for you mini album lovers out there
  • Personal Diecut Machine - Cricut, Silhouette, Vagabond, Cuttlebug, Big Shot, etc.  Electric or manual, just good to have.
  • Punches  - Circles, hearts, flowers, tags, labels - they are all great to have!
Now onto the project.  A Quick and Easy Gift Bag for any occassion.

  • 1 Lunch Bag (trimmed to 7 1/2 inch)
  • Patterned Paper (trimmed to 10 1/4"x4 3/4")
  • Ribbon
  • Hole Punch
  • Trimmer
  • Scissors
  • Score Board
  • Adhesive
  1. Trim Patterned Paper into 2 pieces.
    3 1/4" x 4 3/4" and 6 3/4" x 4 3/4"
  2. Score the smaller piece of paper at 1/2"
  3. Adhere large piece of paper to the front of the bag.
  4. Adhere the 1/2" side of the scored to inside back side of the bag.  The paper should form a flap overlapping the front of the bag
  5. Punch 2 holes in the bag (through the front and back). and thread your ribbon through the holes, and tie shut.
This is a great way to use up large scraps or to create something super quick and fun with your 12x12 paper pads.  I was able to create 20 of these bags in a matter of hours - super quick and what a great idea for party favors at your kids birthday party or friends shower?  I can't wait to see what you create!

Is there something special you want to see or learn?  Tell me about it!  I'd love to hear about it!  I am hear to serve. ;D

Happy Crafting!
